PlayStation fans have until the end of the year to redeem any Sony points they may have lying around, as Sony’s rewards program is coming to an end.

Before the days of PlayStation Stars, currently the best way to rack up points for PlayStation accounts, there was Sony Rewards, a similar idea but covered purchases on the wider Sony online store.

Rise Tarnished warriors, Elden Ring Shadow Of The Erdtree is available now, check out GAMINGbible’s review below

Now though that rewards program is coming to an end , and fans will only have until the end of the year to earn some last minute points and redeem them for whatever goodies they fancy.

Why it’s ending is unknown, but it’s likely a result of users simply not using it anymore, plus PlayStation has been really pushing PlayStation Stars recently, with heaps of challenges to complete as well as several free digital collectables to earn.

Sony Rewards will end on 31 December this year, but requests for bonus points will only be accepted up to 21 July, after that PlayStation Stars will be your only source of freebies.

You can read more about the closure though the official Sony Rewards Twitter, or X if you’d prefer, which provided an update for its users.

Users in the comments weren’t very pleased with the decision, with one saying “Wow, that’s really messed up, I hate to see it end!” and another adding “RIP. I nabbed some good stuff from this program.”

I’m sure it’ll be a disappointment for some users, especially those who don’t actually own a PlayStation but still purchase plenty of Sony gadgets and gear, but everything ends eventually.

For those who do own a PlayStation, make sure to check in regularly with PlayStation Stars, as it’s a fantastic way of cashing in points earn through gameplay for gift cards on various PlayStation products, including new games.
