PlayStation gamers are frustrated and angry over a brand-new update from Sony that changes a well-loved feature.

It seems that Sony has seen fit to change the terms of service for PlayStation Stars, the rewards program that gives points to players for buying games and services.

The Silent Hill 2 remake will be here soon and we're ready to be scared witless

Well, you can strike the last bit of that sentence as Sony will no longer reward points for paying for subscriptions starting March 2025.

Of course, this is how many accumulated points, are through the purchase of things like PlayStation Plus. This will no longer be the case.

When reported on Reddit, the reception was, as you’d think, rather fractious with many PlayStation fans calling out the company.

The top reply on the message board seemingly gets right into the nitty-gritty saying, “This is how you know it was popular with users. It lost them too much money.”

Admittedly, PlayStation Stars isn’t a well-promoted aspect of the console’s services and some users didn’t even realise they were getting points all this time.

Something that Joker3023 remarked, “I didn't even know I was getting points from my PS subscription.”

However, those points soon add up if you’re paying out for PlayStation Plus every month.

Redditor Metroidman noticed after checking their balance, “I just very casually used it and I have 15k points. I was shocked to see that was 60 dollars.”

Sony may have underestimated how many people enjoyed the service and the rewards they got as the anger is simmering.

“They must hate the points hoarders,” said NineduceXII, while Therenegadegamer agreed, “The program isn't even that good and they're already nerfing it godamn it takes spending $125 to get $5 off.”

I’ll leave the final word to ash356 who said, “I admire the balls of this email to literally just be 'we're making it worse, this in no way benefits you, deal with it losers.’”
