PlayStation free store credit for April leaves gamers confused

The bonus isn't bonusing

Every month, PlayStation Plus updates with a bunch of free games to play, and even films to watch on higher tiers.

The monthly refresh also brings with it more PlayStation Stars campaigns, giving players a chance to earn points, which eventually translate into free store credit for digital purchases.

PlayStation Stars rewards players for buying new games for their console.

This is a lovely way to give players a bonus every once in a while - you earn points by buying games, but the campaigns set targets for playtime, or buying certain games, and you get a little boost in points.

Over the years since its inception, fans have gamed the system as much as they can, maximising the number of points they earn by focusing on campaigns.

It’s worth doing if you consider that just 1,250 points earns you £5/$5 to spend on a new game.

However, this month, fans have noticed that some of the usual campaigns are missing, most notably, the tournament campaign.

“Not seeing the tournament one this month,” comments one Redditor.

As pointed out by another user, it could be because this campaign is actually quarterly, as they say, “It's not a monthly one that, it's a near more of a quarterly one TBH.”

It’s a bit confusing to track exactly when Sony implements the opportunities, and how long they last, as some feel rather sporadic.

Ultimately, the scheme is a bonus incentive, and should be treated as such - Sony doesn’t really owe it to us to give chances to extra points.

However, numerous users have come to rely on the little bonuses they receive to save money on games, often getting them for free when the sales roll around and reduce titles to only a few quid.

Hopefully, there will be more campaigns later this month, otherwise April is looking a bit dry for the Star hunters.
