When the new selection for PlayStation Plus was announced, everyone was focused on God of War: Ragnarök finally getting added to the service.

While it is in itself a brilliant action game with RPG leanings, there’s another RPG included in PlayStation Plus this month that has fans excited.

The latest instalment in the Like a Dragon series is coming soon

As a huge fan of the Yakuza series, it’s great to see it getting some love over on Reddit.

User, RunPool created a thread and said, “am I the only one stoked about Like a Dragon Gaiden?”

This spilled out into a lot of people chiming in with their love of the series and a few pointers for new players.

When one user asked if it was a good jumping on point for the series, Daveygravyx07 helpfully said, “You don’t have to in order to enjoy gameplay, but story wise, it would be like starting Game of Thrones in the last season.”

Another Redditor is also thrilled to see its inclusion, “I’m really happy about this one! Finishing Ishin right now and then moving onto Gaiden.”

It seems a popular addition, with SteelKline commenting, “Yo I forgot about this, gonna play through this before I play infinite wealth.”

If you’re at all interested, get it downloaded now and start working your way through the older games.

Yakuza 0 is a masterpiece, and the Kiwami rereleases of the first two games provide a great starting point for the series.

This is why I love services like PlayStation Plus, it gives people a chance to dive into new series’ they might not otherwise try.

It’s worth trawling that thread if you want all the advice on the order you should play the Yakuza games, just to make sure you don’t skip any of the melodrama.

Emotions run high in this franchise, and you won’t want to miss a moment of it.
