PlayStation drops new free PS5 download, no PS Plus required

It's speedrunning time!

It’s that time, yet again. Astro Bot’s latest update has arrived.

As I’m sure you’re aware, Astro Bot has been rolling out weekly speedrun levels as of late.

There are five in total, with each speedrun level arriving in the form of a free update.

The first was ‘Building Speed’ and that has since been joined by ‘Let It Slide’ and ‘Spring-loaded Run’.

Now, Astro Bot players on PlayStation 5 can jump into ‘Helium Heights’ with the final level, ‘Rising Heat’ due to round us out on 14 November.

Take a look at Astro Bot in action below.

‘Helium Heights’ is pretty similar to the base game’s ‘Balloon Breeze’ level.

It’ll make use of balloons as obstacles whilst Astro must use the inflation mechanic to traverse them.

Like the other speedrun levels, ‘Helium Heights’ includes new VIP bots for Astro to track down, although I won’t reveal who as that’ll spoil the fun.

The idea, perhaps quite obviously, is to complete the level as fast as you can - with players able to view online leaderboards as well as local leaderboards with your friends’ times.

It’s sad to think that we’ve only got one more of these drops to go.

But that’s not really the end, as Team Asobi have already teased that more Astro Bot content is on the way.

Back when the free speedrunning DLC was announced, Team Asobi studio director Nicolas Doucet wrote, “We want to thank you again for all the love and support you have given to Astro Bot, it means the world to us. That’s all we have for today, however watch this space as there may be even more surprises coming soon.”

Maybe we’ll get an announcement at The Game Awards?

After all, the ceremony is only around one month away now, and the night always brings us some exciting reveals interspersed between the handing out of the awards.

For now though, it’s time to dive into ‘Helium Heights’ to secure the quickest time.
