The latter end of 2024 is promising to be a big one for games, but there’s an open world RPG you can experience much sooner.

Best of all, it’s free; no PlayStation Plus required.

Now that Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s release date has finally been revealed, many of us are gearing up for our return trip to Thedas.

But before it launches, there’s another adventure waiting for you.

Part of Amazon Games’ catalogue, New World: Aeternum is making its PlayStation debut this September.

The game won’t fully launch until October, however, in the meantime, players will be able to explore the world of this RPG thanks to its open beta.

Beginning on 13 September and running until 16 September, New World: Aeternum will allow you to play its opening section until you reach level 30.

It’s a generous offer that’ll keep you busy.

The open beta is available in Europe, APAC, and the US. What is more, it’ll allow crossplay between PC and Xbox.

In addition to this, there’ll also be various rewards those partaking in the open beta can collect, all of which will become available when the game launches.

However, as far as we’re aware, your in-game progress won’t transfer.

To get ahead of the game, so to speak, you can pre-load the open beta from 11 September onwards.

We have a couple of weeks to go before September is here, though...

Thankfully, PlayStation has just dropped 1,000 hours worth of free games as part of the biggest drop we’ve ever seen.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, the first free game for September’s PS Plus line-up has been revealed that promises an unforgettable experience.

Over the coming months, there’ll be a lot to see, play, and do on your PlayStation 5 – you’d better be ready for it.
