If you want to play the upcoming Monster Hunter game for free, then you’ll have that opportunity very soon on PC and consoles.

The Monster Hunter series is one of Capcom’s longest-running and most popular properties alongside the likes of Street Fighter and Resident Evil, with the first game in the series making its debut in 2004 on the PlayStation 2.

The next game in the series to arrive is Monster Hunter Wilds coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Monster Hunter Wilds has already benefited from an open beta but if you missed out on that (or want to play again), then a second test is on the way ahead of the main launch.

“The unbridled force of nature runs wild and relentless, with environments transforming drastically from one moment to the next,” reads the synopsis of Monster Hunter Wilds. “This is a story of monsters and humans and their struggles to live in harmony in a world of duality.”

Announced by Capcom across its social media channels, Monster Hunter Wilds’ second open beta test will first arrive on Thursday, 6 February until Sunday, 9 February. It will then return for a second phase on Thursday, 13 February until Sunday, 16 February.

The test will be open to all those who play on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S with cross-play support. What’s more, it will also be available to those who do not subscribe to PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass. Happy Days!

As a bonus, all those who take part in the second Monster Hunter Wilds open beta will be rewarded with the ‘Stuffed Felyne Teddy’ pendant that can be used in the full version of the game.

Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on 28 February 2025.
