If you’re looking to game on a budget then I highly suggest that you make use of demos.

There are plenty available these days, and they can really provide you with a sense of both clarity and reassurance.

Demos typically offer a decent chunk of gameplay time, allowing you to get a feel for a particular game’s world and mechanics.

In fact, eight new demos have recently landed on the PlayStation Store and there’s some bangers I don’t think you should miss.

Let’s begin with Reikon Games’s Metal Eden, available on PS5.

This one’s an adrenaline-rush sci-fi FPS offering you the chance to experience the first two missions from the game.

“The advanced HYPER UNIT ASKA is sent on a suicide mission to rescue the citizens’ CORES from the vast monolithic city MOEBIUS - once a hopeful new home for humanity now turned into a deadly trap,” the synopsis reads.

“Blast your way through the INTERNAL DEFENCE CORPS in cybernetic warfare, confront the ENGINEERS and uncover the mysteries of the project EDEN.”

You can take a look at Metal Eden in action below.

If you enjoy JRPGs, Persona 3 Reload is one for you to try.

Developed by Atlus, this one’s available on PS4 and PS5 and will allow you to play the game’s opening with all progress carrying over should you pick up the full release.

“Step into the shoes of a transfer student thrust into an unexpected fate when entering the hour "hidden" between one day and the next,” reads the synopsis.

Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree is a demo I sense will prove popular.

Think of this one as The Witcher 3 meets Dark Souls; it’s an epic dark fantasy RPG that makes use of side-scrolling action.

This one is also PS5 only.

The next one is a tad more niche as Silent Operative is a PSVR2 title but if you do have this bit of kit, you can partake in high stakes secret agent missions, engaging in firefights and executing silent takedowns.

Vagrus - The Riven Realms Prologue is another title that’s available across both PS4 and PS5.

“Vagrus - The Riven Realms: Prologue is an early Demo to Vagrus - The Riven Realms, an award-winning roleplaying game with a narrative focus, open-world exploration, and strong elements of strategy,” reads the description.

“The player takes the role of a vagrus - a caravan leader who strives to survive in a strange and dangerous dark fantasy world by leading a traveling company on all kinds of ventures.”

You’ll be able to play the game’s opening, introducing you to the open-world campaign.

Boxville 2 is up next, and this one’s PS5 only.

In this hand-drawn adventure game, you’ll follow two friends tasked with setting up fireworks for the mayor’s grand celebration but the set up doesn’t go to plan.

The fireworks end up wreaking havoc and one friend goes missing and it’s up to the remaining pal to restore peace and reunite with his partner.

Balance Blox has a PS4 version only, but you can play it on PS5 too.

This one’s simple; you’ll drop blocks on a balance aiming to match them. It’s very Tetris-esque.

Finally, I bring you Quriocity.

This one’s PS5 only and is another sci-fi title.

Essentially, you’re sent to another planet and tasked with setting up a new colony so there’s a bit of a No Man’s Sky feel.

All of these new demos are available on the PlayStation Store now alongside hundreds of others so do have a browse.
