PlayStation gamers surprised with bonus free download you can nab for Christmas

It's not a family-friendly take on Christmas

Stellar Blade unfortunately left this year’s The Game Awards without a win, but its nominations should still be celebrated.

The Shift Up title garnered nods for both ‘Best Score and Music’ and ‘Best Action Game’.

It’s a great game, although not because of its so-called ‘jiggle physics’ which has overshadowed the game’s engaging combat and narrative.

In fact, Eve’s knockers being the main subject of conversation around this game is something that I’d argue has hindered its success.

Of course, there are those that will use her chest to explain to you why this is a ‘real game’ that’s ‘made for the fans’ or some kind of related nonsense.

That same sentiment is also something that'll put many players off, but I’m here to tell you that beyond the unnecessarily scantily-clad outfits, there’s an enjoyable action experience to be found here.

And if it’s a title you’re considering loading up this Christmas, then you’ve picked the right time as Stellar Blade has launched free festive DLC.

Take a look at Stellar Blade in action below.

Launching today, on 17 December, the holiday-themed event introduces new costumes, a new mini-game, and more - all of which I will detail for you.

Let’s start off with decor, as you’ll find that Xion has been adorned with festive decorations for the holidays including at popular hangout The Last Gulp.

In Eve’s camp, you can play and enjoy two new background music tracks, ‘Dawn (Winter)’ and ‘Take Me Away’, both of which have a relaxing, festive feel.

That’s also where you’ll find the new mini-game which, I have to say, devs didn’t reveal all that much about.

It sort of looks like a dart board wrapped in a wreath, with players able to earn rewards upon completion, whatever completion looks like.

Of course, Eve has also received a new Santa-inspired costume that looks like something you’d see in the window of Ann Summers.

The Santa Girl hairstyle, Snow Crystal Glasses, Wreath Earrings, and Sleigh Ear Cuffs have also been introduced alongside an I’m No Santa costume for Adam.

There’s a Rudolph-inspired cosmetic for Drone, and you can turn seasonal content off now via the game’s settings if you don’t want to join in the festivities.

As I said, the update is available now, so do check for updates when you next load up your PS5 console.
