Although its development, and therefore a release date, has not yet been confirmed by Sony, we can safely assume that the PlayStation 6 is on the way.
However, with the prices of both software and hardware increasing over recent years, it is no surprise that potential customers are worried over the cost of the PlayStation 6.
But fear not!
A recent leak claims that Sony may just be working on a Xbox Series S-like version of the PlayStation 6 which, as you can expect, will retail at a slightly lower price.

This leak comes courtesy of Moore’s Law is Dead over on Youtube with the channel claiming that Sony is working on the Series S version of the PlayStation 6 alongside the base console and a handheld.
As of now, it is known as the PS6 S Canis console as it is claimed that it will implement the Canis chip and RAM.
As this is merely a rumour as of now, we do not have any other information regarding the PS6 S. We can assume that it will be slightly smaller than the base PlayStation 6 and slightly less powerful to justify its smaller price tag.
However, when news of its possible existence broke over on r/GamingLeaksandRumours, it seems as though it has left fans feeling divided.

“Maybe it's just me but if Sony releases a PS6, a PS6 S (akin to the series S) and a PS6 portable, isn’t that going to be extremely convoluted for the average consumer?” One user asked.
“If this is true and the PS6 portable is dockable, I don't see why a PS6 S needs to exist.”
Another agreed, adding, “Seems like Sony didn’t learn anything at all from the Xbox’s failures.
A portable console and a weaker, cheaper console being the baseline for future exclusives will drag down the PS6’s full potential.”

As always, it is worth taking this leak with a pinch of salt but it seems as though the possibility of a smaller, less-powerful PlayStation 6 will not go down well with players.
