Ready to have that Friday feeling utterly devastated in a matter of minutes? An enhanced port of a treasured PlayStation exclusive has been cancelled, leaving its fandom crushed like a grape.

What a turn of events for PlayStation fans; first we see news of a new Sony console online, the next minute we’re suffering the sting of defeat as we learn that Dreams won’t be headed to the PS5 or PC as planned.

“If this is true, it's tragic. Tragic,” posted a fan. Another stated that they’d hit their “rage quota” for the day, their whole world seemingly turned on its head as the news sank in. Understandably so, too.

Experience the flood of memories as you watch the PS4 trailer for Dreams.

Dreams is such an incredibly immersive experience, allowing players to “dip their toes” in the expansive realms of dreams to shape them as skilfully as Gale shapes the Weave in Baldur’s Gate 3. Not only can you create your own dreams and share them with others, but those others also have creations begging to be explored, all playing out alongside a story campaign that showcases Dreams’ potential.

To make matters worse – why not, we’re all suffering already – the enhanced version of Dreams was reportedly finished and ready to go. Then Media Molecule layoffs happened and forced the cancellation.

In short, we’ve been robbed.

Silent Hill 2 fans may be disappointed by the remake so far, but the wounds for this fandom feel worse, the salt freshly rubbed in. “I think this is the most miffed I've been by video game related news since Konami cancelled Silent Hills,” revealed Alfiewoodland on Reddit. “Dreams was utterly incredible, but let down by so many small, dumb decisions. What a waste of such an impressive and unique engine and tool set.”

After everything, we’re still hopeful that Dreams won’t lay forgotten for long, as do other fans clinging onto that wish with vehement desperation. “I may be sniffing the copium here but any hope this may still release someday? Such potential!!”
