One feature that many believe should have been on the cards much sooner is a rating system for games on PlayStation 5. Oftentimes, it's hard to know whether to try a game, or take a punt on that title that's just appeared in a sale.

Now, users will be able to rate games out of five stars allowing others to get a sense of the game's popularity before they take the plunge and stump up that hard-earned cash.

The PlayStation 5 brand has just added a new slimmer model to the lineup.

It's a simple way to tell quickly if a product might be for you, and these five star ratings have been popular with consumers for years. It's a handy test to see if a product is popular, or a nice visual guide to the quality of a game. Now, PlayStation allows you to see these ratings from other gamers across the world.

You'll notice the new ratings appear beneath the game's title on the PlayStation Store. It also gives you an idea of how many people have rated the game. For example, I've just booted up my PS5 and gone to the store, choosing the newly released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and seen the rating is 4.08 out of 5 stars. Also, this rating was reached after 216k votes. Marvel's Spider-Man 2, however, has a rating of 4.91 out of 5 stars from some 72k players.

When you click on the rating itself, you'll be taken to a screen that shows you the breakdown of the star ratings. For Marvel's Spider-Man 2, I can see the game received five stars from 95% of the public, while 3% voted four stars, 1% voted three stars and another 1% gave it just one star.

You can add your own rating from this page too, but only if you own or have played the game. I chose a game I've never played and was informed I couldn't rate it at this time.

Hopefully, this system will help players find some new favourite games.
