PlayStation 5 is getting a freebie for a major release soon, and you don’t even need a subscription to PS Plus to access it.

There’s always hype when we’re looking forward to an upcoming release, regardless of our platform of choice and especially as we edge closer to Christmas when all the big publishers like to bombard us with new releases.

The release schedule over the next few months can get so hectic that many quality games will fly under our radar, such as this new release coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in the coming weeks.

The game in question is the new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, developed by Media. Vision Inc., and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.

“Digimon Story: Time Stranger is an RPG with monster-taming elements that explores the deep bond between humans and Digimon in an epic story that unravels the mystery of the world’s collapse,” reads the synopsis of the game.

“Embark on an adventure that spans across the human world and Digital World, collecting and raising a diverse array of Digimon to fight in turn-based battles.”

Of course, no matter how much of a promising game Digimon Story: Time Stranger looks to be, we won't know for sure how good it is or isn't until we get a chance to play it.

Thankfully, if you're someone who is looking forward to the release of Digimon Story: Time Stranger, you can go hands-on with the game for free roughly a month before its big launch.

As brought to our attention by the Twitter account Wario64, Digimon Story: Time Stranger is getting a free public demo later this week on all available platforms.

Depending on the platform and region, the Digimon Story: Time Stranger demo will be available to download between 10 and 11 September.

“Hell yeah!” exclaimed dudx8.

“Yes!” said the joyous wztmaizen.

“I'm here for it,” replied Shijishoutmon.

“I already pre-ordered a Steam Key, but hey, I’m getting the chance to play a snippet of it early,” said excaliburn3d.

“LET'S GOO, I’VE PRE-ORDERED THE COLLECTOR’S EDITION FOR XBOX,” yelled gundam_omega.

It’s also worth mentioning that your progress from the demo will carry over into the full game, which will be a relief for many fans, I’m sure.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger will be released from 2 October 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. At the time of writing, a Nintendo Switch 2 version hasn't been announced.
