Ahead of its launch next month, one PlayStation 5 game is now free to check out, allowing you just a taste of what you can expect.

Set to be released on 11 November, is an upcoming puzzle game from the creators of Tetris Effect: Connected. Described as “a mind-blowing, fiendishly addictive reinvention” of the puzzle genre, Lumines Arise combines dazzling visuals, an infectious, eclectic soundtrack, and of course, challenging puzzles.

Developed by Enhance Games, this really is a puzzle game unlike any others and if you showed this to a Tetris fan from the 90s, they would probably have a heart attack.

Consisting of 35 stages of “synthetic sensory wonderlands”, you will explore everything from lush forests to neon-soaked streets as you match blocks and craft insane combos courtesy of the new Burst mechanic.

Whether you take on single-player modes or team up with friends, you will need to test your mettle and climb to the top of the online leaderboards.

“Whether you’re looking to get hyped up or chill out, new to the series or a veteran, have an hour to kill or just five minutes, want to play solo, with friends, or challenge strangers, or play in optional VR or stunning 4K, Lumines Arise is the ultimate puzzle game,” the official synopsis reads.

Tetris as you have never seen it before

This may be a pick-up-and-play on a whim kind of game, but you will also need to master gameplay quickly in order to keep up with all of the levels Lumines Arise has to throw at you.

In typical Tetris style, blocks will fall from the sky and it will be up to you to create squares of a single colour or type.

However, with a timeline sweeping across the screen to the beat of the music, you are on a time limit and you will need to clear your squares and generate points before it is too late.

As mentioned, Lumines Arise is not set to release fully until 11 November but it is now free to check out courtesy of PlayStation.

Available for PlayStation 5 users, Lumines Arise Demo is now live and includes three stages from the full game, Burst Battle online multiplayer mode, and a tutorial to learn the basics.

So if you want to try out this mind-bending, pulse shaking puzzle and rhythm game to see if you have what it takes ahead of its full launch, make sure to take advantage of this free download now.
