The PlayStation Store has quietly gained a new free title that’s now readily available to enjoy across both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
That being said, there is no native PlayStation 5 version but that’s no major setback thanks to backwards compatibility.
The game in question is MY.GAMES’ War Robots, a tactical free-to-play shooter which isn’t to be confused with the already available War Robots: Frontiers.
“War Robots is a tactical shooter focused on giant mechs combat,” teases the synopsis.
Advert
“Join global worldwide PvP battles, spring ambushes, outmanoeuvre opponents, and turn the tide with smart positioning.
“Destroy. Capture. Upgrade. Become stronger and prove your skills in the War Robots online universe.”
While War Robots has been available for some time across mobile and PC, this is the first time it’s made its way to PlayStation - and it arrived with very little build up of a reveal.
Players will get to choose from over 50 robots, all with unique designs and powers, which you can modify using an array of weapons, modules, pilots, and drones.
With so many combos to discover, War Robots will surely keep you engaged for hours on end.
“Crush and destroy, protect and defend, or pressure your enemies using a massive selection of weapons, including ballistic missiles, plasma cannons, and heavy shotguns,” devs tease.

You can team up with friends online plus War Robots boasts a variety of modes including Beacon Rush, Arena, Free-For-All, and PvE.
You do need an online connection to play and, of course, as a free-to-play game, War Robots does feature microtransactions.
This mainly comes in the form of bundles of War Robots’ in-game currency, D-Gems.
500 D-Gems will set you back £3.99, with 2,500 costing £19.99, and 7,500 costing £61.99.
At the time of writing, the PlayStation port of War Robots boasts a pretty respectable score of 4.06 on the PlayStation Store.
An impressive 68% of players awarded a perfect score of five stars, although 17% awarded it just one star.
If War Robots doesn’t float your boat, that’s no major worry as plenty more PlayStation news is on the way today, 2 June.
That’s because we’re mere hours away from a major State of Play.
It’s due to kick off at 2pm PDT / 4pm CDT / 5pm EDT / 10pm BST, and we’ll be bringing you the latest headlines live.
Many are expecting a top-tier line-up given that the State of Play is being streamed in select US cinemas, was announced two weeks in advance, and has had a countdown live since that date.
