Minecraft meets Zelda in the very fun Portal Knights, free to try now.

With us slowly approaching the end of the year, it is perhaps the best time to cuddle up with a survival RPG, especially one that is free to try now.

Portal Knights combines the best-loved features from The Legend of Zelda and Minecraft to bring us a survival action RPG from Keen Games. Originally released in 2017, the multiplayer title takes place in a 3D sandbox world where mysterious portals are used to travel between randomly generated worlds.

Alongside friends, you will be tasked with levelling up your character, crafting epic weapons, conquering enemies in real-time and even building whatever you can think of. In the world of Elysia, you must become a hero as well as the ultimate Portal Knight.

Check out the Portal Knights trailer below!

Whether you play as a Warrior, Mage or Ranger, everything from your appearance to your abilities are customisable. Not only that but you will be able to build and decorate to your heart’s content with a plethora of different materials and furnishings. You and your friends can even build your own castle and create your very own NPCs to man the walls.

Finding resources is simple when you can easily traverse between worlds and you will find yourself in dungeons, lakes, caves and more. It is here you will be able to team up with up to four friends in co-operative mode or two-player split screen.

Combat will find you in real-time encounters and you will need to pay attention to your foe’s strengths and weaknesses. Not only that but you will find yourself coming face-to-face with an occasional boss with each realm having its own hideous hideaway.

With quests to embark on, kingdoms to build and dungeons to explore, Portal Knights is guaranteed to feature hours of fun whether solo or with friends.

It is now available to try out for free on the PlayStation Store for all users. It's also included in PS Plus' extra tier.
