It’s a huge day for PlayStation fans. After several years of waiting, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is finally out in the world.

As someone who has played the game, I can tell you that it is absolutely fantastic and has already swiftly earnt a place in my top three games of all time. It has the best opening hour you’ll play this year, and in our review, GAMINGbible’s Ewan wrote, “It’s hard not to come away from my time with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 grinning from ear-to-ear. This is an amazing fantasy come to life and realised like never before. Insomniac Games has crafted yet another heartfelt Spider-Man story bursting with twists, turns, and show-stopping spectacle.” Despite its critical acclaim though, some fans are slamming the game’s “bad” graphics.

Take a look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in action below.

I’ve got to admit, this one has left me scratching my head a bit. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is graphically leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessors, but some PS5 players are finding it to be otherwise. Reddit user joeroganthumbhead wrote, “Spider-Man 2 graphics look off? I just started playing Spider-Man 2. I have a 4K 120hz monitor but the graphics look really bad idk why. It looks like a PS3 game almost (purely graphics wise). I know it’s not my monitor because I just played 2K24 right before and graphics were fine. Is it just the Sandman stage that looks this bad?”

A surprising number of people agreed. KingoDappo wrote, “Same on my end as well. Miles Morales looked way better than this one,” while ulltraviolence added, “This just happened to me and my buddy. We booted up the game and were confused why the Sandman graphics looked solid, blocky and all around pretty unimpressive. Hopefully it was just that sequence.”

Eigencats wrote, “I feel like the city and the suits look much better than the first game but what threw me off are the faces. Anytime they show up unmasked, even Ganke and MJ look sorta bad compared to the previous games. MJ is particularly weird,” plus Current-Row-6706 remarked, “Yeah the game looks really mid. Comparing the two other Spider-Man games, this one looks the worse. The opening cutscenes, lighting, even some of the textures.”

Others said it appeared perfectly fine on their own consoles. Is this a difference of opinion? An error with graphical settings? We’re not too sure, but it certainly shouldn’t put you off what is a dazzling game.

I like Red Dead Redemption 2 for the most part, but this feature would annoy me so much if they brought it back for GTA VI.
