PC players finally have the chance to play Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a game that was lovingly received when it first launched for PlayStation.

Despite the game’s hype and quality, the PC launch has been a bit of a disaster for Sony and Insomniac Games, as the game is being bombarded with negative reviews over on Steam.

One user, who tried playing the game on their PC and Steam Deck, said, “This game is unoptimized mess. Random crashes and hiccups, cannot be played properly on any system.”

They’re far from the only person being unhappy with the game on Steam.

“Can not even play for 20-30 mins straight without a crash,” expressed another player who got only a few hours out of their purchase.

All of this has led to the game receiving a ‘Mixed’ review state on the digital storefront.

Though that might be a little misleading, as even a lot of the positive reviews still touch on a wealth of issues cropping up in the game.

A player who racked up over 30 hours and completed the game, leaving a positive review, said, “optimization is a 1/10 high-key I have a decent pc and I could not enjoy decent graphics, it kinda rammed my CPU to 100% whenever I tried anything above medium.”

It turns out that the game is riddled with bugs and will continually crash for many players, leaving the title pretty much unplayable.

Someone using an NVIDIA 4090 reported that the game is constantly struggling. In their review they said, “No wonder they did zero advertising for this PC Port... Crashing every 10 minutes. Big disappointment”

It seems Insomniac Games needs to do a lot of work to pull this launch back and prevent more unhappy players.

If the game doesn’t improve, there will be more reviews like this, “I just can't recommend it in its current state. Performance issues and crashing are WAY too prevalent.”
