Earlier today a remaster for Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 leaked online.

It came mere hours before PlayStation's State of Play, with many taking it as proof that it will feature at some point during the event's announcements.

Some of you will be too young to remember these Eidos Interactive games, but when they came out in the late 90s and early 00s, they quickly became fan-favourites in the franchise.

Despite being adored by many veteran Sony fans, we've been left without any new games for years now.

That wait, however, appears to be well and truly over.

Twitter account @Stealth40k was among the first to share the news.

"The graphical upgrade seems minor, but I’m sure side by side comparisons there’s a huge difference. My memory of it just looks pretty identical to the remaster," responded fellow Twitter user Symbol.

"It’s been so long ago that I’ve played Soul Reaver where the only memorable thing now is the title so I’m happy this exists," said @Luqaido.

We wanted to wait until it was officially confirmed, and tonight we're here to deliver that joyous news.

The trailer may not blow you away with its aesthetic beauty, but hardly any of that matters to the fans who are already rating this State of Play a "10/10" because of this remaster alone.

The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 will launch on 10 December 2024.

Oh yes, we love it when rumours turn out to be true, especially when they're about beloved classics.

Happy days!

Return to the iconic series remastered for the modern age; it has classic charm while keeping its iconic graphics.

We can't wait to start a new playthrough of Soul of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 - what about you?
