At long last, more Horizon Zero Dawn is just around the corner as its live-action movie adaptation gets an exciting update.
It may have been just three-years since Horizon Zero Dawn’s beloved sequel Horizon Forbidden West was released, but fans are already eager for more of Aloy and her exploits across a land overrun by mechanical monsters.
Although the third part in the trilogy is supposedly in development at Guerrilla Games, it is nowhere near ready and so in the meantime, fans will have to look forward to the Horizon Zero Dawn live-action movie.
Announced earlier this year, Sony confirmed just last week that the movie already has a finished script and filming will begin in 2026 ahead of a planned 2027 release.

It seems as though things are moving fast and it is likely that we will get to see Aloy come to the big screen before the third instalment in the trilogy is released.
However, it is about time we got some good news regarding a live-action Horizon Zero Dawn after it was originally planned to be a Netflix television show back in 2022.
Although when allegations of misconduct were directed at the supposed showrunner, the project soon fell apart.
That being said, earlier this year saw Sony announce that Horizon Zero Dawn would be receiving a live-action film courtesy of Columbia Pictures, a studio associated with fellow video game adaptations such as 2022’s Uncharted and 2023’s Gran Turismo.

The recent update surrounding the finished script and filming comes courtesy of the ongoing lawsuit between Sony and Tencent against the latter's Light of Motiram title.
In a legal document obtained by The Game Post, head of PlayStation Productions Asad Qizilbash revealed the news of the finished working script as well as revealing that Sony is now in search of Horizon Zero Dawn’s director.
If all goes smoothly, filming will begin as early as next year with the movie hitting the big screens some time in 2027.
“We are in development for a film based on Horizon in partnership with Columbia Pictures,” Qizilbash revealed.

“We already have a working script and are actively searching for a director, with the goal of shooting the picture in 2026 and releasing it in 2027. The live-action film follows the recent collaborations between Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions on the 2022 film Uncharted and the 2023 film Gran Turismo.”
At the time of writing, no official cast members have been named for the live-action movie and so it remains to be seen who will take on the role of Aloy herself.
However, with things moving fast, there is no doubt we will find out some day soon.
