With rumours circulating over the past few years, it seems as though Halo: Combat Evolved will finally be welcoming an official PlayStation 5 remake very soon.

First released way back in 2001, Halo: Combat Evolved is widely regarded as the crème de la crème of the beloved FPS franchise.

Developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft for the Xbox, the game was later ported to PC in 2003.

However, despite its popularity, Halo: Combat Evolved has never received an official remake.

Until now.

According to the Halo Leaks Twitter account, the Halo franchise will be making its PlayStation 5 debut with a modernised remake of Halo: Combat Evolved.

“I can definitely confirm the Halo CE Remake will have sprint & "modern gameplay mechanics",” the Tweet reads.

“I'm of the belief its gameplay will be similar to the new Halo Multiplayer game, which I also believe is Halo 7's MP.”

The developers behind the Halo franchise, now known as Halo Studios, will be sharing more information regarding the FPS series later this month at the Halo World Championships and it is here that we may finally receive official confirmation on the remake.

Until then, rumours begin to circulate and Halo’s PlayStation launch is inevitable considering that Microsoft is now dedicated to multi-platform releases.

Although Halo Leaks believes that the Halo CE Remake is inevitable, they are unsure if it will be announced at the upcoming event so we may be waiting a lot longer.

The leaker continues by comparing the Halo CE Remake to the recent Resident Evil remakes and we can assume that means that the former will have updated mechanics to make it much more suitable for modern-day gaming.

After all, more recent Halo entries have introduced sprinting, sliding, and the ability to aim down sights, all features that were not possible way back in 2001.

However, we can assume that they will be added to the upcoming remake but hopefully Halo Studios will be able to maintain the magic of the original.

“As long as this game is a true remake and not just simply a remaster, I'm ok with this,” one Twitter user shared.

The Halo World Championships take place from October 24-26 so stay tuned for more Halo-related news then.

Until then, let us hope that this Halo: Combat Evolved Remake is officially in development and will be launched before we know it.
