Santa Monica Studio has deployed the latest update for God of War Ragnarök that not only improves the game on PS5 Pro but also makes various improvements across PlayStation platforms.

God of War Ragnarök is the sequel to the soft 2018 reboot, where a more grizzled, somewhat calmer Kratos attempts to live a peaceful life amongst the snowy landscapes of gorgeous Scandinavia. Oh, and he also has a young son, named Atreus, so there is that.

In our review of God of War Ragnarök, we said: “It expands on and improves the formula established in 2018’s God of War hugely, offering up blistering action, gut-wrenching twists, and truly cinematic boss battles with real emotional heft behind them. This is a high-stakes, high-fantasy rollercoaster from start to finish, and an instant PlayStation classic.”

Earlier this week, Sony released its long-awaited PlayStation 5 Pro which boasts improved visuals and performance, as well as gorgeous ray-tracing effects for compatible games. It also gives PlayStation 4 games a nice little boost too.

Even when played on PlayStation 4, God of War Ragnarök looks incredible, so just imagine how snazzy it looks on the new PS5 Pro. I can only dream.

To get God of War Ragnarök ready for the new hardware, developers at Santa Monica Studio have deployed update 6.00.

The PS5 Pro enhancements for God of War Ragnarök will allow you to favour quality mode while running at a smoother 60 frames-per-second and even up to 120fps for compatible monitors and TVs.

The update also improves the anti-aliasing for sharper visuals thanks to the PlayStation 5 Pro’s Spectral Super Resolution upscaler technology.

Along with various bug fixes, there are also some quality-of-life improvements. Audio descriptions have also been added to the accessibility options for all cinematics.

Puzzle hints can now also be reduced, this was previously only available on the PC version of the game. This will allow players to trial and error puzzles without being told what to do every few seconds.

Update 6.00 will begin to download and install the next time you fire up God of War Ragnarök unless it’s already been activated during sleep mode.

God of War Ragnarök is out now on PC and PlayStation.
