Following PlayStation Network mysteriously going offline last weekend, Sony is still trying to make amends by offering free PlayStation Plus to all users.

Last Friday saw the PlayStation Network go offline for the entirety of the weekend, leaving users frustrated to say the least.

With no explanation as to why this happened, things were back to normal by Sunday evening and since then, Sony has been trying to make it up to PlayStation users.

Which is why it has announced that it will be making PlayStation Plus and all its perks free for a whole weekend.

Available from 13 February to the 15, all PlayStation owners will be able to access PS Plus and if you are already a PS Plus member, you will be rewarded five extra days for free.

“Join your friends online this weekend at no extra cost!” The announcement read.

“From Thursday February 13 at 12:00am (local time) until 11:59pm on Saturday February 15, you’ll be able to enjoy online multiplayer for free.”

This means that all PlayStation users will be able to access online components at no extra cost, allowing them to dive into games such as FC 25, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and College Football 25 to name a few.

The news soon broke over on r/PlayStationPlus and fans were quick to share their thoughts over the upcoming free weekend.

“Online multiplayer should not be paywalled in my opinion,” the top comment by Fair-Lingonberry-268 read.

For user t3nz0, there are some questions.

“I'm really curious,” they wrote.

Who buys COD but doesn't own at least PS+ Essential? Same goes for FC.

People either buy it to play online or for couch PVP gaming and I'm sure the latter don't give a s*it about the online aspect of this game.”

So it would seem as though Sony’s attempts to placate fans have not been received well.
