Cyberpunk 2077 meets Final Fantasy in stunning 2024 PS5 exclusive

Stellar Blade is looking, well, stellar

During Sony’s State of Play event, we finally got a release date for the upcoming adventure game Stellar Blade. During a lengthy trailer, we got to see a lot more of the action and some hints as to where the story will go in this exclusive PlayStation 5 title.

Stellar Blade is an action game that “follows the journey of Eve, a warrior who descends from an off-world Colony to defeat the Naytibas, humanity’s enemy that suddenly emerged on Earth. The Naytibas appear to be attacking the human race at the will of a higher entity composed of Alpha and an Elder, but no one really knows about their origin.”

Take a look at the brand new trailer below.

The game will be released 26 April, only for PlayStation 5, with preorders available from 7 February. Stellar Blade takes place in a semi-open world that combines a wasteland with a desert, with Eve attempting to help rebuild a city filled with survivors after the Earth was decimated by the Naytibas.

From what we saw in the latest trailer, the game features lots of religious tropes as Eve is partnered by a man from Earth called, you guessed it, Adam. We also see Eve in several battles with creatures named after biblical demons Abaddon and Belial, so it will be interesting to see what comes of the story and how much the developers lean into the religious themes.

We also got to see a lot of fighting and the action looks brilliant. It seems Eve will be kitted out with plenty of tech to battle a myriad of creatures while also utilising a stacked skill tree to unlock new combat abilities. The game really gives off futuristic vibes combined with Final Fantasy-style characters and those heavily modded NPCs we would see in Cyberpunk 2077. Definitely an interesting game to keep your eyes on.
