Bloodborne fans furious over latest PlayStation announcement

It's not the lack of announcement they despise, but rather the announcement of a completely different game that's sent them over the edge

Sony held their State of Play event a couple of days ago, much like they do every few months or so

State of Play is essentially the equivalent of a mini E3-style PlayStation presentation. They reveal details about upcoming games. They explain the hardware specs for new consoles. They even announce games.

You know what they never do, though? They never bloody mention Bloodborne - quite possibly the most beloved soulslike of all time and a game that fans have been begging Sony to recognise ever since its last update, The Old Hunters DLC, in 2015.

As a result, if the last week of top posts on the r/bloodborne subreddit are anything to go by, it seems like Bloodborne fans have finally moved out of the bargaining stage and into the depression stage.

So, what’s finally sent them all off the deep end? Sony ignoring Bloodborne’s existence is par for the course these days, so why exactly was this State of Play the straw that broke the camel’s back?

Well, it has a little something to do with the recently announced remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn.

Bloodborne fans now have a target for their collective anger, because they can’t seem to fathom why Sony would opt to remaster a game that came out two years after Bloodborne.

Not to mention, Horizon Zero Dawn already has a PC port, something that fans have also been begging for long before Horizon even released.

Unfortunately for Bloodborne stans, there’s a very simple explanation for all of this: following the ransomware attack on Insomniac Games in 2022, we’ve since had confirmation that Horizon Zero Dawn outsold Bloodborne by 3:1.

I’m sure I don’t need to explain the logic behind Sony’s decision here. Remastering the more popular game should lead to more sales.

What would be odd however is if the rumours of a Days Gone remaster prove to be true, because according to the same leak that game sold roughly the same amount of copies as Bloodborne.

It would also just be weird if that remaster happens to be real, as Days Gone can already run at 60fps in 4K on the PS5. For comparison, Bloodborne currently runs at 30fps on PS5. It’s pretty clear to me which one of the games is more in need of an upgrade; the one that’s actually good.

Yeah, that’s right, I said it. It’s a terrible game. Come at me, Days Gone fans. All five of you.
