With ARC Raiders taking the gaming sphere by storm in 2025, it is easy to forget that its developer Embark Studios has another equally enjoyable title under its belt. And better yet, this one is completely free.
However, with it set to shut down on one platform, you may not have long to play.
Released in October 2025, ARC Raiders burst onto the scene and took the extraction shooter genre by storm. Consisting of PvPvE combat, players are tasked with heading into battle zones, hoarding as many items, weapons, and add-ons as possible and getting out alive.
As a result, ARC Raiders was met with favourable reviews and became one of the best-selling multiplayer games in 2025.
Advert
Developed by Embark Studios, ARC Raiders is not the only title under its belt as The Finals was released back in December 2023.
However, unlike ARC Raiders, The Finals is completely free-to-play and is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
Focused on team-based matches, players can enter destructible environments in distinct classes as they use various buildings to their advantage in a fictionalised VR combat game show. As a live-service game, The Finals featured regular content updates including new modes, cosmetics, and more.

Various modes have been added since the game’s launch based around quick-play and competitive tournaments. This includes: Cashout, World Tour, Ranked Tournament, Quick Cash, and more.
Alternatively, The Finals offers various events, each with their own modes, with players able to earn-limited time rewards.
PS4 Says Goodbye To The Finals
However, in a recent statement by Embark Studios, The Finals will no longer receive PlayStation 4 support from 18 March onwards.
Instead, it will be focusing on newer technology such as the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC ahead of its upcoming Chapter.
However, PS4 users will be able to transfer any saved data via their Embark ID so fear not if you have played The Finals on the Sony console up until now.
So if you play The Finals on PlayStation 4, you have just a few months left to get ready for the migration but it will still be free to download on your next chosen platform.
Of course, you could always pick ARC Raiders instead as, despite not being free, its developers are still dedicated to adding brand-new content on a regular basis such as its upcoming Cold Snap update.
For now, The Finals is free-to-download on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
