PlayStation Plus users are looking forward to a new game hitting the service tomorrow.
If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, the chances are that you’re always checking out the store for new and interesting games to explore.
One of the appeals of the service is you get to try hundreds of games at no extra cost, allowing you to find something that will be fitting to your tastes.
One PlayStation Plus user, fresh off completing The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, was amazed by Naughty Dog’s attention to detail with regards to the game’s world and environments. Even five years later, the game is pretty amazing to look at.

After asking the community for other recommendations, one person recommended Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2, which hits PlayStation Plus Essential tomorrow.
“Yep some of the best natural scenery in any game,” wrote a fan in the comments. “Lighting is unreal, even without full ray tracing.”
“Such a great game,” wrote another.
Alan Wake 2 is the second main entry in the Alan Wake series (the third if you count the Xbox Live Arcade spin-off), and massively expands the lore and setting of the Remedy Connected Universe.

The story is split in two, with one half of the story concerning FBI agent Saga Anderson’s investigation into a series of brutal murders in the small town of Bright Falls. The other half of the game charts Alan’s escape from the Dark Place, an alternate dimension tied to the town.
Regarding whether or not you should play the first Alan Wake before its sequel, it’s a good idea. Alan Wake 2 can technically work as a standalone adventure, but you’ll be missing a lot of context.
Luckily, Alan Wake Remastered is available on PS4 and PS5 if you fancied checking it out.
If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you may also want to see if it’s in your library. The game was added to the service in July 2023, so there’s a high chance you might already own it if you were a subscriber then.

It’s also a good idea to play Control, another game also developed by Remedy and set in the same universe. Both Alan Wake games and Control crossover quite a bit, and it’s clear that the developer is setting up more crossovers in the future.
Alan Wake 2 will be available on PlayStation Plus Essential tomorrow, 7th October. It will also be joined by Goat Simulator 3 and Cocoon.
