Zelda meets Stardew Valley in gorgeous new 2025 game

Moonlighter returns

It’s no secret that 2025 is already shaping up to be a monumental year.

I’ll be honest, my most hyped release is Professor Layton and the New World of Steam.

This series was my childhood, but I’m very much aware that most of you will be counting down to the likes of Grand Theft Auto VI, Ghost of Yōtei, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, to name a few.

It’s important though that we don’t simply focus on the year’s AAA heavy hitters.

I’m sure that 2025 will also bring us plenty of delightful AAs and indies, one of which I’d like to put on your release radar today.

Who recalls 2018’s Moonlighter?

Well, Digital Sun returns in 2025 to bring us Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, a brand new action RPG blending the worlds of Stardew Valley and The Legend of Zelda.

Take a look at Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault in action below.

“Live the double life of a fearless adventurer and a crafty merchant! Dive into vibrant dimensions brimming with shiny loot and pesky enemies,” the game’s new synopsis teases.

“Grow your shop, tinker with weapons and gadgets, as well as make your mark among a ragtag community of castaways.”

Revealed during the recent PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted, Moonlighter 2 confirmed its 2025 launch window, although didn’t narrow down the month or quarter beyond that.

We can, however, glean some interesting details from the trailer, namely the fact that Moonlighter 2 is opting for a 3D aesthetic, shifting away from the 2D graphics used in the previous instalment.

It’s a change that I imagine some fans may mourn, but I have to say, the new trailer is dazzling so I’m pretty excited to see what a 3D Moonlighter entry has to offer.

If you don’t know the general gameplay loop, it’s a lovely balance of seeing off enemies in roguelite-esque battle arenas while running your own treasure shop.

You’ll be reliant on your fellow business owners across the village when it comes to improving your armour and weapons, but invest in their wares and you’ll be able to take on tougher enemies, securing better items for your shop.

By helping each other out, the whole town prospers.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault as and when further updates become available.
