A newly released Steam game on PC has become a viral hit that can be considered Call of Duty with ducks.
Without question, the Call of Duty franchise is one of the biggest properties in video game history. Ever since the series made its debut on PC in 2003, for most years it has been released, it has gone on to become the best-selling game across all platforms.
Now, fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of its next entry, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which takes us back to the future next month. See what I did there? Sorry, not sorry.
Despite its continuous commercial success, you see tons of gamers criticise that the newest entry has ruined the series. I have no doubts the same will be said about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, but I bet it will still sell like hotcakes nonetheless. I, for one, am very much looking forward to it.

However, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 might have an unexpected rival this year, that is somewhat of a tongue-in-cheek nod to the multiplayer extraction shooter, Escape from Tarkov.
As reported by IGN, the game in question is Escape from Duckov, an action-adventure RPG developed by Team Soda and published by bilibili.
“You wake from a strange dream to find yourself in the world of Duckov. Beyond the safety of your base, enemies lurk in every corner. In this seemingly peaceful yet perilous world, you must tread carefully, exploring and scavenging for supplies,” reads the synopsis of the game on Steam.
“Start your journey as an Average Duck—ordinary stats, one basic gun. Gather all sorts of curious items, build your hideout, upgrade your gear, and struggle to survive in the world of Duckov—until you make it out alive.”

IGN reports that Escape from Duckov has sold nearly 500,000 copies on Steam since its launch on 16 October 2025. What’s more, it’s also garnering impressive concurrent player numbers.
At the time of writing, according to SteamDB, Escape from Duckov has an all-time concurrent player peak of 221, 963 and there are currently over 150,000 players in the game as I type. I would imagine those concurrent player numbers will continue to grow in the coming days.
As of right now, there are no plans to release Escape from Duckov on consoles (at least publicly), but hopefully that will change sooner rather than later. If that happens, we’ll keep you posted.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be released on PC, PlayStation and Xbox on 16 November 2025.
