Skyrim fans praise 'fantastic' multiplayer mode that lets you explore with friends

As incredible as Skyrim is, sometimes you just want to take to its vast open-world and take on dragons and caves and ruins with friends.

Although this is not possible in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s base game, it is possible now thanks to the franchise’s dedicated modding team who has found a way to let players explore the land of Skyrim with friends.

This comes after one fan took to r/skyrimmods to ask the following:

“What’s the best way to play Skyrim co-op in 2025?

“A few years ago, I was deeply immersed in the Skyrim modding community (before the Special Edition, the time flies..).

Recently, I've felt the urge to dive back into this world and wanted to know the best way to play Skyrim co-op.

Back then, there was Skyrim Together, and I've seen that it's still around in the form of Skyrim Together Reborn.”

They would be correct as Skyrim Together Reborn is widely regarded as one of the best co-op modes for the Bethesda RPG since it was first uploaded to Nexus Mods back in 2022.

Developed by The Together Team, Skyrim Together Reborn allows you to team up with friends to complete quests, fight, and explore the world.

The mod has been so successful that it has managed to rack up over 900,000 downloads so it is no wonder that it is considered the best way to experience Skyrim with friends.

For user SwitchHypeTrain, they said, “Skyrim Together reborn is fantastic.

I've had a decently long playthrough with minimal crashing.

And that was with my group playing with an additional 100+ mods, which likely increased the crashing.”

User HolmPower agreed, adding, “I use Skyrim Reborn and it works with almost no issues, except for some NPCs being naked and a few overworld enemies standing still.”
