Skyrim: Before the Fire Fell Is an Exciting New Quest Expansion

More Skyrim is always a good thing

One of the things that has kept Skyrim so alive over the last 12 years (beyond the regularly released additional editions from Bethesda themselves) is the impossibly active community that continues to pump out content.

Whether it be individual characters, bug fixes or entirely new quest chains, mods have been such a big part of Skyrim's life-span that it's difficult to imagine the vanilla game without them at this point.

One of the newest to add to that extensive list is Before the Fire Fell, an ambitious quest mod that was created by three students at the University of Utah, featuring three individual quest chains with new dialogue, locations and interactions.

The Dragons Cometh

In describing the upload on the official Nexus Mods page, the developer said the following about what to expect, saying, "Dragons are returning to Skyrim, making rumours dance through cities about a man from Falkreath who finally lost his mind and disappeared."

"They say he's crazy. And yet, maybe some of what he says holds true. His story is largely known but, his whereabouts are not. Finding him? The people of Falkreath have made seemingly no attempt to."

So what you'll essentially be getting up to is tracking down the fantasy equivalent of a doomsday prepper and discovering what he's all about.

Each of the three quest chains will progress you further into the story, as you discover why the character does what he does and why he lives in such isolation.

The quests will take you to entirely new dungeons, all of which have been handcrafted specifically, meaning the experience will be fresh to you, regardless of how much of the base game you have played.

Additionally, the third quest sees players tasked with following a hooded figure into some icy Dwarven ruins, after you've already been to the prepper's lair. That could easily serve as the start of an additional story delivered in a follow-up mod.

The mod doesn't need much in the way of anything additional to get it going, besides the Creation Club content, so you will need to get your hands on that first.

There hasn't been any word on whether the team behind the mod is planning to update it further or if they will move on to something else, but it looks like there is more than enough here to give it a recommendation, even if it never receives any further versions.
