The popular Red Dead Redemption expansion Undead Nightmare finally comes to the main game as one ghoulish entity.

Alongside the goliath that is the Grand Theft Auto series, Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar Games’ most popular property, and for good reason, it’s fantastic.

The series began with somewhat humble beginnings with Red Dead Revolver in 2004 for PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox. This property was initially owned by Capcom before Rockstar Games acquired the rights and what a wise decision that proved to be.

When Red Dead Redemption launched in 2010 starring John Marston in 1911 during the decline of the American frontier, it became an instant classic as indicated by its impressive Metacritic score of 95, earning the “Must-Play” accolade.

Later that year, Rockstar Games released the epic expansion for Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare, perhaps considered to be one of the best expansions of all time.

In a nutshell, Undead Nightmare is set in an alternative reality to the main story of Red Dead Redemption. John Marston wakes up to discover that the Wild West is infested with zombies that not only infect humans but wildlife too.

Despite being an expansion to the main game, Undead Nightmare is a separate entity from Red Dead Redemption, basically acting as a separate game. However, if you want to blend both of those worlds, as reported by DSOGaming, modder Glitched Matrix has you covered.

Available to download for free via Nexusmods, ‘Undead RDR Project’ brings elements from the Undead Nightmare expansion into Red Dead Redemption and vice versa. Just make sure that you read the mod instructions before implementing.

As with the nature of most mods, this is a PC exclusive. Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare are out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
