Red Dead Redemption 2 gets a definitive release that we’ve been waiting for, and you can claim it for free. So there’s no need to rob anymore Blackwater banks to fund new adventures.
If you asked a gamer what their favourite release is from Rockstar Games, there’s a good chance that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be at the forefront, alongside the likes of GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is arguably not just one of the best Western games of all time, but it’s also one of the greatest video games of all time, in my opinion.
“Winner of over 175 Game of the Year Awards and recipient of over 250 perfect scores, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the epic tale of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the infamous Van der Linde gang, on the run across America at the dawn of the modern age,” reads the description of the game.

Originally released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2018, before arriving the following year on PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 has barely aged a day and still puts many modern releases to shame with its overall quality and (moon)shine.
However, what if you could play an even better version of Red Dead Redemption 2? How awesome would that be, right? Well, if you game on PC, then today is your lucky day, partner.
Created by modder JUPACALYPSE, you can download ‘Ultimate RDR 2 - Essentials’ for free right now via Nexusmods. Of course, you will need the base version of the game to play it.
This mod overhauls the gameplay to reportedly make it even better when using a controller or a keyboard and mouse. It improves NPC ragdoll physics, and gameplay has been fine-tuned, so you’ll not need to “spam” the Deadeye mechanic.

Oh, it also improves visuals and makes various quality of life improvements. All in all, it seems like it could be a fantastic mod to help breathe new life into Red Dead Redemption 2, especially if you’ve replayed it countless times.
Yet, it should be stated that, as is the case with most mods, this is a PC exclusive and is not available on the console version of the game.
For the rest of us, we can play Red Dead Redemption 2 as intended, which is backwards compatible for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Hopefully, it can continue to keep us busy until the unannounced Red Dead Redemption 3 decides to grace us with its presence.
