When Frontier Legends was first unveiled, its trailer quickly spread across the internet with many comparing the upcoming title to Red Dead Redemption 2.
Following up on that initial hype, developer Neojac Entertainment has now confirmed that the game will be launching in early access later this month.
Frontier Legends is set to kick off its early access period on PC via Steam on Friday, 29 May.
Of course, Frontier Legends and Red Dead Redemption 2 are entirely different kettles of fish, even if they do share a few striking similarities.
They’re both set with the period of the Wild West and they both offer open worlds for players to explore.

Whereas Red Dead Redemption 2 was an action-adventure title, though, Frontier Legends blends action-adventure with elements of survival-crafting.
It goes without saying that Frontier Legends has also been made on a much smaller budget compared to Rockstar Games’ cultural behemoth.
With Frontier Legends, players will begin with a camp which, in time, could grow into a thriving town.
You’ll need to farm, craft, and gather while also encouraging NPCs to set up residence and help you establish your budding empire.
It won’t be a smooth process either, with bandits to fend off; wildlife will also pose a major threat.
There’s a dynamic weather system and a day/night cycle, too, to add a sense of immersion to the world.
Perhaps Frontier Legends’ most interesting feature is that you can determine the trajectory of your character, by which I mean you can specialise in becoming a hunter, trader, builder, lawman, or even a bandit.
I’m sure plenty of players are going to go down the bandit route.
“Take on quests, solve puzzles and hunt legendary treasures as you explore ancient ruins and forgotten camps. Every discovery can change your fate and get you closer to becoming a legend yourself,” devs tease.
To celebrate the game’s upcoming early access launch, a brand new trailer has been released, featuring glimpses at town-building, open-world exploration, and more.
Frontier Legends did previously have a demo on offer, although that’s now been sunsetted as the team prepares to launch in early access.
If you did try out that demo, you’ll perhaps know that it was single-player only, but when Frontier Legends does land in early access, it’ll allow you to team up with friends via multiplayer.
Hopefully, in the coming weeks, we’ll hear from Neojac on its plans for Frontier Legends throughout the early access period.
Many of us will undoubtedly be hoping that when the game’s 1.0 version does arrive one day, it might be accompanied by PlayStation and Xbox console ports.
Pricing is yet to be confirmed for the game but as an indie title, hopefully it won’t break the bank.
