Pokémon fans on PC can now catch them all, thanks to this new alternative experience that looks all sorts of awesome.

The Pokémon series is easily one of Nintendo’s hottest and most popular properties, ever since it made its debut on the beloved Game Boy handheld console in the 90s. Since that time, we’ve had countless sequels, spin-offs, movies, TV series, merch and much more. Simply put, there’s no escaping Pokémon.

Unfortunately, if you’re someone who only plans on one specific platform, there’s a chance that you might not have ever played a Pokémon game in your life. However, if you have been itching to play a Pokémon game but are also incredibly stubborn, then this fun alternative might make your day, because Pokémon is coming to Hytale (Kinda).

What is Hytale?

In a nutshell, Hytale is inspired by Minecraft and developed by Hypixel Studios. It’s an incredibly user-friendly sandbox of creative bliss, where you can craft and build to your heart's content. Much like Minecraft, it’s also very mod-friendly, which is where these Pokémon battles come into play.

“First look at Pokémon battles in Hytale,” tweeted PokéFind. “Still early and plenty to polish, but we wanted to share our progress so far. More to come!”

A gameplay clip shared by PokéFind shows the legendary Psychic-Type, Mewtwo, battling against the evolved Fire-Type, Charizard. The two Pokémon battle mechanics are limited at this time, but that will change. At the very least, they already look fantastic.

“Camera angles, animations, UI, and flow are still being refined, but we would still love to hear your feedback!” added PokéFind. Some of the users commenting are keen on the camera movement, but as PokéFind said, that will be addressed.

"My God, I saw it, congrats, can't wait to try it,” replied KingFlex.

If this Hytale mod looks like it could be your cup of tea, it might be worth following PokéFind on Twitter to keep updated. Hytale is out now on PC and can be acquired via its official website, rather than on Steam or the Epic Games Store.

With all this talk of Pokémon, it's perhaps worth mentioning the latest game in the series, Pokémon Pokopia, which we scored 10/10!

"Pokémon Pokopia is a true adventure that boasts a refreshing sense of freedom. Totally devoid of grind, this experience rewards the curious with heaps of content on offer," said GAMINGbible's Kate, in her review. "You’ll be hard-pressed to put it down, and it's certainly a title that we’ll all be discussing when this year’s GOTY discussion rolls around."
