Horizon Forbidden West is easily one of the best looking games out there, if you ask me.

In fact, back in 2022, I declared that it offered the year’s most breathtaking open world. It feels wrong calling Horizon an ‘underrated’ franchise when it’s so incredibly successful and yet at the same time, I’m tempted to. Just as Horizon Forbidden West got somewhat undeservedly lost in Elden Ring’s shadow, expansion Burning Shores was soon drowned out by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom chatter. If you didn’t get around to playing Burning Shores, you most certainly should. It easily boasts my favourite boss fight of 2023. Today though, I bring you exciting news of a graphics update.

Take a look at Horizon Forbidden West’s brand new PC trailer below.

Yes, it turns out Horizon Forbidden West can be made even more beautiful. I didn’t think it was possible, but the PC port of the game is set to land in the coming months and the first footage has now finally arrived. We know that Guerrilla has teamed up with NVIDIA to enhance the game’s image quality. The NVIDIA DLSS 3 will help reduce CPU pressure, permitting for a better framerate. NVIDIA DLAA, on the other hand, will boost image quality.

Finally, NVIDIA Reflex has been incorporated to reduce latency, which is perhaps the most useful change for us gamers. The trailer was shared during Sony’s recent CES business showcase, where it was also confirmed that writing had begun on the upcoming Horizon adaptation. A God of War TV series is also in the works, with writing beginning on that too.

Back to the upcoming PC port though. We’re still without a release date, but the game is due to launch this year. With rumours swirling of a State of Play landing in the next few weeks, perhaps we’ll be put out of our misery soon.
