Halo 3 returns in wild new adventure you can play now

The crossover we never saw coming

If you’ve ever wondered what Halo would look like if you mashed in elements from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, this is it.

Halo 3 is my favourite Halo game by miles, and while I haven’t dived deep into mods Steam users have been making this pirate-themed overhaul definitely caught my eye.

Oddly enough this isn’t the only well-known IP getting a nautical makeover, check out the trailer for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii below

It was created by InfernoPlus, who Halo fans might recognise as the creator of Cursed Halo, the wacky overhaul that completely breaks the game for hilarious results.

The creator is now back to present their latest project for Halo 3, and you can play it right now on Steam.

In short it’s like Halo 3 was crossed with Sea Of Thieves, as it places your spartan at the helm of a ship on the high seas, with islands to plunder and threats to face during your exploration.

The mod supports up to four players, who can work together to steer the ship, fire cannons, collect loot and more, just watch out for the island with the Scarab on it.

Turns out the mod was so complex to put together that the creator needed to get a brand-new PC just to finish the project, with them saying “It's a miracle I got it working as well as I did.”

The mod is only available through Steam Workshop, specifically for Halo: The Master Chief Collection but you don’t have to buy the entire game to make it work, you just need Halo 3.

So grab a few friends, put on your Mjolnir armour and pirate hats and set sail for some sci-fi adventure, in what can only be described as the most bizarre version of Halo 3 we’ve seen yet.
