Halo fans rejoice, for there’s a fan remake of Halo 3: ODST you can check out right now.

The original title is already a Halo experience that packs an impressive punch, with the majority of fans in agreement that this is the “definitive Halo experience”.

This fan remake created with Unreal Engine 5 is a love letter to the game.

This narrative experience allows you to explore “a piece of New Mombasa never before seen”, and while you won’t do much during your playthrough, you’ll be immersed in a classic Halo experience.

How amazing does this Halo 3: ODST remake look?

“As an ODST, you can explore and find the narrative behind the environment, or just walk around and enjoy the atmosphere. It is your choice! Put on some headphones, sit back and enjoy an immersive experience through a reimagination of one of the best settings in video game history!”

As the above description alludes, this is a glorified walking simulator when all is said and done.

That said, it’s a beautifully crafted one at that, and likely the kind of add-on Halo fans are looking for.

“This is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen,” commented YouTube user @dylon4906.

Someone who’s already played it, despite their PC struggling to handle the game, showered the experience with praise.

“This was fantastic! It barely ran on my computer but it was worth the low frame-rate with how good this looks,” posted DexterGrif on Gearshift Media’s website.

Gamers are so impressed by this Unreal Engine project that they claim it should become part of the official Halo collection.

“This should be added to the Master Chief Collection or be an Infinite update!” said @KTS_Studios before adding, “Good Work!”

If you want to experience this fan remake for yourself it’s free to download.

Should you run into performance issues, the creators have kindly left a means of improving your experience on the Halo 3: ODST remake page.

Soak in the atmosphere and return to the glorious adventure that is Halo 3: ODST.
