A free God of War Ragnarök update is available to download right now that makes various improvements to the critically acclaimed game.

In 2018, Santa Monica Studio released God of War now featuring a mature, seasoned Kratos who is the father of Atreus. This soft reboot not only came with gorgeous new visuals but an over-the-shoulder camera perspective and revamped combat for Kratos to slay even more gods in style, this time inspired by the lore of Norse mythology.

God of War (2018) would then receive a sequel with Ragnarök in 2022 followed by the fantastic free Valhalla DLC. Previously exclusive to PlayStation, PC gamers were able to see what the fuss was about when God of War Ragnarök received its long-awaited port roughly two years later.

In our review of God of War Ragnarök, we said: “It expands on and improves the formula established in 2018’s God of War hugely, offering up blistering action, gut-wrenching twists, and truly cinematic boss battles with real emotional heft behind them.”

As for the PC release of God of War Ragnarök, it comes with all the bells and whistles that owners of beast systems would come to expect such as increased resolution and uncapped framerates, ultra-widescreen support and much more.

Now, title update 6 for God of War Ragnarök has been released for PC and the patch notes via Santa Monica Studios read:

  • Fixed a crash in UI when opening certain Journal pages
  • Fixed a crash that could happen when controllers get disabled or enabled in rapid succession
  • Fixed a crash that would occur in various locations in Vanaheim
  • Improved performance of AMD Zen1 and Zen2 processors in areas where the game was CPU limited
  • Increased tessellation in Realm Between Realms back to PS5 quality. (Note that the performance issue related to tessellation is resolved in NVIDIA drivers 565.90 or higher).
  • Fixed an issue where lock-on would rapidly bounce between targets when using the mouse. It will now be more "sticky" requiring more effort to change targets
  • Fixed an issue where attack indicators would not look correct when using frame generation
  • Fixed an issue where cinematic dialogue audio would be lower volume than intended

God of War Ragnarök is out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
