If you’re a fan of Fallout and Stardew Valley, then this free post-apocalyptic mod might be your cup of tea.

The Fallout series is one of the most popular RPG properties in modern video game history, long before it was developed by Bethesda Softworks and Fallout 3 was released. However, I think it’s fair to say that, as great as those early games were, the series has never been as consistently better since 2008 (maybe).

It doesn't really matter which game in the series it is, whether it’s the stories that keep you hooked from start to finish, combat, NPC interactions or seeing how differently events play out with each run, there’s a lot to love about Fallout.

That being said, if the post-apocalyptic video game goodness isn't quite enough, we also have the fantastic Fallout live-action series on Amazon’s Prime Video, which enters its long-awaited second season later this month.

Fallout Meets Stardew Valley? Count us in

Then we have Stardew Valley, the epitome of what it means to be an indie darling. Originally, Stardew Valley was created by one developer, Eric Barone, under the banner ConcernedApe.

From what I hear, that team has grown, especially with the studio's next game on the way, that being, Haunted Chocolatier, but make no mistake, ConcernedApe is very much still the indie darlings of indie darlings.

Stardew Valley is a go-to cosy chill game with players loving nothing more than to grow a farm, go on side-quests and interact with the village's endlessly charming NPCs. It’s impressive when you think about how far Stardew Valley has come since its inception in 2016, not only evolving with a wealth of free content updates but also the ever-vibrant modding community breathing more life into what is already a fantastic game.

Speaking of Fallout and Stardew Valley, this aforementioned mod (or mods) might be worth your attention, called ‘Fallout Valley Buildings’, created by gumbo632, and is free to download right now via Nexusmods.

In a nutshell, what this does is that it changes the buildings of Stardew Valley from being cosy to more akin to something that’s barely survived a nuclear war. It all looks very cool and certainly helps change the vibe of the game, somewhat.

It’s worth noting that this is just one part of various mods, and you will need to download the others to make the most out of it. The list of other mods can be found on the ‘Fallout Valley Buildings’ page.

As for Fallout season two, that arrives on 19 December 2025.
