Zelda: Twilight Princess fan remaster trailer is so pretty I want to cry

Please, Nintendo, we want this

When you look back on games you played as a kid, I bet the visuals you see in your mind are stunningly realised, in 4K, with impeccable lighting, despite not actually looking like that in reality.

Rose-tinted glasses, conjure gorgeous images of older games, and while many of them will never be realised, modders and community creators are doing their best to upscale and overhaul retro titles from series like The Legend of Zelda.

So many fans would love to revisit Twilight Princess on modern hardware

Over on YouTube, Henrico Magnifico Showcase has fully modded The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess with 4K textures and shaders, and it looks stunning.

Now, we’re begging Nintendo to go back through their catalogue and revamp the visuals for the Nintendo Switch 2, and keep our childhood dreams alive.

The video in question features a heavily modded copy of Twilight Princess to “include over 1200 faithfully recreated 4K textures, an updated user interface, custom shaders, fully customizable tone mapping, quality of life improvements and crystal clear text for all messages in the game.”

If you have a legally acquired digital copy of the game, you can download all the files to try this out for yourself.

And it’s going down a treat with the YouTube commenters.

“Ripped the textures straight from my memories. This is how incredible it looked to me when I was young,” said one player.

“This is how good the graphics looked to me as a kid when the game first came out. Thank you for bringing back the memories,” echoed another.

Perhaps, one day, Nintendo might revisit their older Zelda titles and bring them up-to-date, but many would argue it isn’t needed.

However, many of these older titles are harder to get your hands on now, especially if you need to buy the original hardware.

So, having official versions, even if they weren’t this overhauled, would be lovely. For now, we’ll be dreamily watching this video over and over.
