The team behind Silent Hill 2 (2024), Cronos: The New Dawn and the upcoming Silent Hill remake is apparently eyeing up a permanent future on the Nintendo Switch 2, according to their CEO.
I am a bit of a Bloober Team ride-or-die.
I won't pretend that they've had a perfect run, but they are responsible for delivering some of my favourite horror games of the last ten years. Observer, Layers of Fear, the Silent Hill 2 remake– all heaters.
As a result, I’m pretty excited about what they’ve got cooking. Given the quality of Silent Hill 2 (2024), I think it’s a given that their Silent Hill remake will also slap. I also love everything I’ve seen from Cronos: The New Dawn so far, and I think that, if it lands, Bloober Team could go down in history as one of the best horror devs of all time.

That’s why I find Piotr Babieno’s (Bloober Team’s CEO) recent comments about his plans to focus on the Nintendo Switch 2 fascinating, because it explains why the team has been on such a hot streak recently.
In a recent interview with The Game Business' Christopher Dring, Babieno explained his “grand designs” for the Nintendo Switch 2, and how the Nintendo GameCube’s incredibly library of horror games influenced him.
“I’m trying to make my personal dreams come true. I am a huge Nintendo fan. I grew up with Nintendo consoles. The most important horrors, like Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil 4… were available on Nintendo GameCube. It was a gold time for Nintendo fans”, Babieno stated.
“In some ways, we would like to be the one to open a new chapter for Nintendo right now… We have some plans. We are not able to share our vision for the future yet. But definitely Nintendo fans could take a look at Bloober Team… The best example (of Horror/cozy crossover) is Luigi’s Mansion. What Nintendo game director Kono-san did with this title was pretty impressive. And I believe that there is a huge possibility to repeat such an idea in the future.”

Oh hell yes. Obviously Babieno can’t be too open about his plans right now, but if I’m picking up what he’s putting down, then Bloober Team is either planning to make a game in the style of Luigi’s Mansion… or they’re hoping that Nintendo will let them work on the next game in the Luigi’s Mansion series.
Either way, I’m in– and it seems I’m not alone in being excited about things.
Over on Stealth40k’s post detailing the interview, every single comment is extremely positive. I thought it was illegal to be happy about stuff on Twitter these days?
“Wow. Nintendo the home of horror. That'd be different”, commented user @B1gDaddyMarv.

“Bloober Team making a switch 2 exclusive horror game would be very interesting”, replied user @iamJambi.
‘Really nice quote, appreciate the fact he's citing Luigi's Mansion's director. It's a mark of respect and he knows his stuff”, commented user @FfMeryll.
Gotta say, Babieno being inspired by the likes of Resident Evil 0 and Eternal Darkness makes SO much sense now that I’ve heard him say it.
Whatever their plans are for the future, I’m excited for them. Bloober Team has earned my respect, and I trust that they’ll deliver on whatever projects they wish to take on.
