Pokémon Gold & Silver remakes headed to Switch, says leaker

Pokemon Gold & Silver remakes are on the way, and will reportedly be the last Pokemon games to release on the Nintendo Switch.

Pokemon Gold & Silver remakes are on the way, and will reportedly be the last Pokemon games to release on the Nintendo Switch.

Since the release of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and its DLC expansions the Pokemon Company has been eerily quiet on what it’s next big project will be. It’s also under added pressure from fans to deliver something good, as Palworld has completely put the last few entries to shame and has been dominating Steam and Xbox Game Pass charts.

Take a look at Palworld below

That being said the company could be hiding an ace in its sleeve, as it's rumoured remakes of Pokemon Gold & Silver are on the way for the Nintendo Switch, in the style of the Pokemon: Let’s Go games.

Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu & Let’s Go Eevee were remakes of the Gen 1 games, switching up the formula with more interactive ways of catching pokemon and less overall battling.

A Reddit post sharing leaked information said the next games will be called Pokemon: Let’s Go Wooper & Let’s Go Togepi, which are weird choices for game mascots but interesting nonetheless. In a similar fashion to the previous games it’ll feature a slightly reworked map of the Johto region, and will also let you revisit the Kanto region just like in the original post-game. The core game mechanics will remain the same but it’ll also support trading for hisuian and galarian amongst other additions/improvements.

That being said, all of this is simply rumour and insider remarks at the moment. Neither Game Freak or The Pokemon Company has confirmed or even hinted at the news being true at the time of writing.

Later this month it’s believed a Nintendo Direct will premiere, which is often followed by a Pokemon Direct, so we’ll likely receive confirmation then if the leaks are credible.
