Pokémon was planning to introduce a new type of evolution for Eevee, a flying-type that would have either been adorable or nightmare fuel I have no doubt.

Eeevee has become as popular as Pikachu over the last few years, probably because it’s such a versatile Pokémon with all the different evolutions you can access through it.

Eevee’s so popular that it starred alongside Pikachu for the Pokémon Let’s Go games

Personally I’ve always loved Umbreon the most, but Jolteon is pretty cool and you can never go wrong with Flareon either.

During Pokémon X & Y, a new fairy-type evolution was introduced called Sylveon, and in Pokémon Sun & Moon another was planned to be introduced that’d make Eevee a flying-type…

There are no images available to give us a hint as to what this could have looked like but if I had to hazard a guess it’d either be an Eevee that sprouted wings, or an Eevee with massive ears that could use them to fly like Dumbo the elephant.

Whatever it looked like fans who’ve learnt of its planned existence are devastated it never saw the light of day.

In a Reddit thread discussing evolution, one commenter proclaimed “I just fell to my knees, I've always wanted a flying Eevee.”

Apparently the reason the flying-type evolution wasn’t added is because it was too close to fan-art designs, leading one commenter to say “Bro. Deviantart has been pumping out questionable eeveelution fanart since its inception. If that's really how this works, we ain't ever getting another eeveelution again.”

Hopefully that’s not the case though, as it’d be nice to one day have a complete set of eeveelutions to use in our playthroughs.

It’d be nice if Eevee got another game to star in as well, like another that lets you pick one as your starter Pokémon that evolves into a legendary dragon-type by the end of the game.
