Pokémon fans are getting some free goodies when the Nintendo Switch 2 drops next month, and they’re really cute.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is less than a month away from release and I don’t know about you but I’m really excited, especially to see what Pokémon games will be coming to the system.

The first Pokémon game on the Nintendo Switch 2 will be Pokémon Legends Z-A, which looks like it could be the best one in years.

Unfortunately, the game won’t be a launch title; we’ll have to wait until the end of the year to get our hands on it, but in the meantime, there are some Pokémon goodies to look forward to.

On launch day, the Nintendo Switch 2 will feature a fresh batch of profile icons featuring literally every starter Pokémon in the franchise.

This includes fan favourites like Bulbasaur and Charmander, as well as my own personal favourite starter Piplup from Gen IV. Also included are icons of Pikachu, Eevee, and a standard pokéball.

These went down well with fans, with one based individual saying, "LETS GOOO PIPLUP", and another adding, "TURTWIG MY BELOVED", so a lot of love for Gen IV.

These will be free and readily available straight away, meaning you won’t have to spend platinum points on them.

That’s not the only Pokémon content coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, as the console will grant upgrades to normal Nintendo Switch games adding better resolutions and better framerates.

This should work wonders for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, which really suffered from low frames on launch and it was never really fixed. Hopefully the same won’t be said for Pokémon Legends Z-A.

Even better is the inclusion of Nintendo GameCube titles for Nintendo Switch Online, as several great Pokémon games were made for GameCube so you can expect to see those titles popping up as the service continues to expand.

The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on 5 June next month, and if you haven’t gotten in a preorder yet, you’re running out of time.
