Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are finally getting a remster thanks to a free update from Nintendo.
Now I’m someone who believes Pokémon Scarlet & Violet was actually pretty good overall, with a nice varied open-world and an impressive number of Pokémon, even more so when the DLC expansions dropped.
It’ll soon be a thing of the past though as Pokémon Legends: Z-A looks far more impressive.
Where Pokémon Scarlet & Violet fell short though was with an unimpressive gimmick, the Tera Pokémon, and far too many performance issues. The world looked terrible at times and the framerate drops were unbearable.

That’s largely due to the Nintendo Switch, so fans will be glad to hear Pokémon Scarlet & Violet will be amongst the first Nintendo Switch games to receive a free upgrade for the Nintendo Switch 2.
This will give the games an improved framerate as well as a higher resolution as it’ll take advantage of the new Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, which is far more powerful than its predecessor.
It won’t completely overhaul the game mind you, the overall world design will remain the same including those muted, static textures used for walls and the floor, but it’ll at least prevent the game from dropping frames constantly, hopefully.
Some screenshots shared of the game running on the new Nintendo console feel like night and day though, so it looks like it'll be worth the upgrade.

Other games getting a free Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade include Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury and many more.
Games like The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom will require an additional purchase for their upgrade, but those subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass will get those upgrades for free.
