It has been a long time since we last got an evolution for our fluffy pal Eevee, and there are a few reasons for this.

First and foremost, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo have shied away from introducing a new Eevee evolution because there are so many fan creations out there, it would be easy to step on someone’s toes.

The last thing the companies want is to reveal a new form and have waves of fans claim they’ve stolen the idea.

Another reason for this delay is due to the limited number of Pokémon types there are, and while some haven’t been explored for new evolutions, it just brings us back to the first reason.

This can be seen in a Reddit thread where a talented artist showcased a few Eeveelutions of their own, sparking excitement from fans.

Here, Poetically_Imperfect shared a few designs, including some for dragon type and ghost type, and this sparked a flurry of hype that maybe we’ll get a new Eeveelution with Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

One way The Pokémon Company could get around the problem is by introducing a new type of Pokémon.

As DarthXelion notes, “If we ever got a new Eeveelution, it would probably be if we also got a new Type at the same time.”

This doesn’t stop fans from spitting out some potential names for bug type evolutions, and many more, and pretty much everyone would love to see a shock reveal for another type in the line.

There are so many wonderful ideas coming from the community, though it would seem likely we’ll all be disappointed when the game launches and there’s not a new reason to evolve Eevee.

We can live in hope though, perhaps there are still some original ideas at Game Freak and they’re waiting to unleash something special.
