Pokémon accidentally confirms 26 new evolutions for classic monsters early

Squirtle used Leak

Some time ago there was a massive Pokémon leak that seemingly revealed information on upcoming titles, and it turns out it might all be real.

The big Pokémon leak saw files released onto social media from various accounts, and after reading through them, many fans weren’t sure if there was any truth to them.

However, after the recent Pokémon Presents, in which Mega Dragonite was announced for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, it seems Game Freak and Nintendo might have confirmed the leak was genuine.

This is explained in depth over on Reddit, but to summarise, several characters shown during the Pokémon Legends: Z-A presentation, along with Mega Dragonite, were mentioned within the leak.

As Throwaway63608 explains, “Most notably, though, a list of 27 mega evolutions with descriptions had started circulating around.”

Mega Dragonite was on that list, described exactly as was shown by Nintendo, and characters like Mabel and Emma, were also mentioned in the documents.

The Redditor goes on to say, “This means it is heavily likely that the leaked 26 Megas are in fact real!”

Excuse the wall of names, but the rest of the list reads, “Clefable, Victrebell, Starmie, Meganium, Feraligatr, Skarmory, Frosslass, Emboar, Excadrill, Scolipede, Eelektross, Chandelure, Scrafty, Chesnaught, Delphox, Greninja, Pyroar, Eternal Floette, Malamar, Dragalge, Barbarical, Hawlucha, Zygarde, Drampa, and Failinks.”

“Considering we also saw two main characters who use Staryu and Scraggy, it's safe to assume the list is real,” agrees Wassersammier.

Of course, we’ll have to get our hands on the game to see just how many of these Pokémon made the cut, as several of them could have been dropped during development.

It’s safe to say that if you see your favourite on the list, then you’ll likely be very happy when launch day arrives.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A will play around with Mega evolutions once again when it debuts on 16 October 2025.
