We all love a freebie, right? Getting free games is awesome, and that’s what’s happening on Nintendo Switch later this month.

Plenty of video game storefronts offer free games. The Epic Games Store does weekly giveaways of AAA and indie titles, while PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass add new titles to their libraries consistently too.

Later this month, the Nintendo Switch will be getting a batch of free titles available to keep. However, there is a catch to this.

But first, how about an update for the Sega Genesis titles on Switch?

The games in question come from No Gravity Games, who have announced their annual Switchmas Giveaway for 2024. During this period, a set of their titles will be available to redeem for free.

The event starts on 9th December, at which point the publisher will make their games free to redeem in batches. However, there is a catch.

To start with, this only applies to Nintendo accounts assigned to the Americas region. If you’re not located there, don’t worry, you just need to make a new account under the North America region.

Secondly, to qualify for the free games, you’ll need to own any game from No Gravity Games’ portfolio. You can check out the list of applicable titles on their website.

We’re not sure yet what titles will be available during the event, however those who took part in the 2023 Switchmas Giveaway were able to claim the following titles:

  • Nonograms Prophecy
  • Creepy Tale 2
  • Catlord
  • Picklock
  • Kids: Farm Coloring
  • Make War
  • Supersonic Tank Cats
  • Nova-111
  • Destropolis
  • Primal Light
  • Cyjin: The Cyborg Ninja

Every day from 9th December, a new title will be made available to redeem. It’ll be available for 24 hours until the next one becomes available.

But here’s where it gets tricky. You need to make sure you unlock the free games each day as the event goes on. You’ll be locked out of further games in the collection if you miss just one day.

It sounds tedious, but hey. All you really have to do is boot up your Switch for five minutes and redeem the free game. No Gravity Games says if you miss a day, you can get the streak back by buying the games you missed.

Either way, if you're looking to stack up your Switch with some fresh games to take you through the holiday season, this might be a good place to start.

No Gravity Games Switchmas 2024 starts on 9th December and runs until the 19th.
