It turns out some of us may have been using our Nintendo Switch consoles in the wrong way all along.

The Nintendo Switch is a wonderful piece of kit. It’s small, compact, and the games it has are beautiful. But while we’re waiting for the Switch 2, it’s clear that the console’s age is holding it back a little.

So, it’s important to take the necessary steps to make sure you’re squeezing as much juice out of the system as possible.

And that includes fiddling with the settings menu to get the best graphics possible.

Are you excited for the Nintendo Switch 2?

A new PSA posted on the Nintendo Switch Reddit page has outlined exactly this.

Apparently, having the “Adjust Screen Size” setting at anything other than 100% makes Switch games a lot blurrier than they need to be.

“When I originally connected my Switch to my LG C1 TV, the aspect ratio was wrong,” the post reads. “The image was zoomed in. So to compensate for that, I set the 'adjust screen size' to 96%.”

Years later, the poster adjusted the settings on their TV, which resulted in them no longer needing to have the adjusted screen size setting.

So, they went and changed it back to 100%, resulting in a massive image quality improvement.

“I booted up Xenoblade Chronicles X, and I was immediately hit by how sharp and clear the game suddenly looked. Just at the Home Screen, I saw a big improvement looking at the details of the big Mech. I changed back to the original TV settings I had to confirm, and it is much clearer now.”

“Thank you for this. I've been adjusting it to 96% on my C1 for years now. This fixed it!” wrote a comment in the replies.

“Just fixed this for my TV, had the 96% for years. Never really noticed. Just fixed it and X looks sharper and better for sure,” another reply wrote.

We'll point that this issue only occurs if you play with your console docked to a TV, so handheld users need not worry.

If you use your Switch connected to a TV though, it’s worth checking to see if you’re using this setting. You might just be able to improve your graphics by changing it.
